Please Move It Move It
You solicited this advice
This week is going to be short and sweet. It’s something that y’all already know, sometimes we just need a little nudge. It’s worth hearing a million times!
EXERCISE IS NON-NEGOTIABLE
There are obviously a million reasons why you need to be exercising regularly, but we’re going to relate it all back to the corporate world today.
First, regular exercise improves brain function. So you’ll literally be better at your job! You can think more clearly, be more focused, and accomplish more.
Corporate jobs tend to be mostly sitting around at your desk all day. This is terrible for blood flow, so not only should you be getting moderate exercise, but you should be getting up from your desk regularly.
I desperately want to be one of those girls that walks on a walking pad while I work, but I just can’t seem to commit. I feel like I would fall - is that worker’s comp??
Second, your physical health is tied SO closely to mental health. It’s a wonderful post-work stress reliever. Exercise releases endorphins, which raises your mood.
Lastly (though I could go on for days), regular exercise promotes better sleep. Which also affects all the reasons I’ve already talked about - brain function, mental health, stress, etc. It allows you to be more alert during the day, and get better rest at night.
I know it can be so hard to find the time and energy to workout when you’re working all day, especially if you’re in an office. Trust me, I get it. If you’re struggling with it, just challenge yourself to three work days per week of 30 minutes of exercise. The hardest part about a workout is choosing to start.
I’ll see you next week! Remember, you can either kick this week’s ass, or let it kick yours.
